Sturtevant- Virginia May (nee: Jones) Lange, age 77, affectionately referred to as “Jonesy” by many; passed away at her home early Wednesday morning, November 6, 2013 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Virginia was born on the family farm in Wauzeka, WI on June 27, 1936 to the late Grover and Elsie (nee: Dobson) Jones. On February 7, 1959 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dover, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Donald J. Lange.
Virginia proudly dedicated her life’s work to serving as a full-time housewife and tireless mother. A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Mary’s Parish-Dover and St. Sebastian’s Parish-Sturtevant. Virginia was a true country farm-girl who appreciated being out on their open land. Among her interests, she enjoyed flower gardening; tending to her beautiful yard – especially the pond; collecting guardian angels; had a great appreciation for hummingbirds, loons and horses; and was a phenomenal cook. Most importantly, Virginia loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.
Surviving are her loving husband of 54 years, Don; their children, Christopher Lange, Mary (Frank) Zenner, Michael (Judy) Lange and Lawrence (Barbara) Lange; grandchildren, Erin Lange, Josh Lange, Deanna Zenner, Ashley Zenner, Brianna (Kenneth) Schumacher, Bridget Lange, Jessica Lange and Natalie Lange; sister, June (Marv) Copus; brothers, Dennis (Kelley) Jones and Doug (Marilee) Jones; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marsha Jones, Rita Modesti, Anita (Jerome) Vaculik, Dennis (Joice) Lange, Diane Hageman, Hilary (Judy) Lange, Annette Kempken and Charlene Secrest; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenny (Rose) Jones and David Jones; by Don’s parents, Robert & Esther Lange; and brothers-in-law, Robert (Angie) Lange, Alex Modesti, James Hageman and John Kempken.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Sunday evening, November 10, 2013 at 6:30 pm in St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126 – 95th Street in Sturtevant, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Sunday from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. Cremation will take place after the services and private entombment will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In memory of Virginia, memorials to St. Sebastian Parish have been suggested.
