Gerald "Jerry" Balderas

Jun 2, 1940 – Apr 24, 2016

Racine – Gerald “Jerry” Balderas, 75, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, April 24, 2016.  He was born in Mt. Haley, Michigan, on June 2, 1940, son of the late Doroteo Balderas, Sr. and Petra (nee: Jimenez) Balderas.

Jerry was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Rose Mary Mastronardi, on July 22, 1967, at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Racine.

Jerry worked for Belle City / Racine Steel since the age of 19 for a total of 43 years.  He retired in 2001. Jerry was a faithful family man.  He enjoyed every minute that he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Jerry also enjoyed playing golf and trying his luck at Potawatomi, the dog track, the horse track or even just playing bingo.  He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Rose Mary Balderas; his daughters, Christine (Daniel) Bates, Stephanie Balderas; grandchildren, Michael (Tromma) Balderas, Justin Balderas, Alexandria Mayfield, Allyssa Bates, Robert Mayfield III, Nathan Bates, Alaya Mayfield, Karan Mayfield; great-grandchildren, JaShawn Trice, Ezell Balderas, Michael Balderas, Jr., Michai Balderas; siblings, Henrietta Urbina, Yolanda Balderas, Mary Lou Zamora, Oscar Balderas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia; four brothers, Doroteo Balderas, Jr., Alfonso Balderas, Leopoldo “Leo” Balderas, Carl Balderas; and sister, Betty Maldonado.

The celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, 12:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

The family would like to say Thank You to the SICU staff and family center at Froedtert Hospital, the staff at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints, April Goodwin, Tracy Tatum, Robert Mayfield, and all of our family and friends for their love and support during this difficult time.
