Beatrice Laverne Hyduke, 93, passed away at the Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie, on Saturday August 8, 2020. A PRIVATE (IMMEDIATE FAMILY ONLY) memorial service celebrating her life will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 14th, at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Wisconsin Right to Life.

Beatrice Laverne Hyduke, 93, passed away at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie on Saturday, August 8, 2020. She was born in Racine on April 2, 1927 the daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice (nee: Schaefer) Scholzen.
Laverne graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1945. She proceeded to earn her registered nursing degree from St. Vincent Hospital, Waukegan, 1948. She interned at the Mayo Clinic before starting her nursing career with St. Mary’s Hospital. Laverne was there for over 37 years until retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Laverne loved sewing, reading, watching sports, and gardening with her father and selling their vegetables in front of their house.
Surviving are her children, James (Carmella “Cookie”) Hyduke, Michael Hyduke, Patrick (Terry) Hyduke, Kathleen Hyduke, all of Racine, Timothy (Beth) Hyduke, of Chandler, AZ, Deborah (Frank) Hultin, of FL; grandchildren, Jon (Maria) Hyduke, Kyle (Odera) Hyduke, Joel (Francie) Hyduke, Erin (Dan) Brandt, Bethany (Mark) Smeltzer, Meredith (Steve) Dehn, Ryan, Andrew (Shelly),and Ben Hultin, Tara (Anthony) Pankow, Mari Hoaglund, Princess Hyduke,; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Dominic, Lincoln, Vincent, Mason, Haley, Patrick, Eleonor, Maren, Adelaide, Loren, Princess, Allison, Arthur, and Sabastian; brother, Ronald Scholzen, of Elma, WA; sisters, Therese Breffle, of Aurora, CO, and stepsister, Alice Jean; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, Laverne was preceded in death by her former husband, James K. Hyduke, and daughter-in-law Gloria Hyduke.

My sincere sympathy to all her family. She was a wonderful friend who I met and worked with at St. Mary’s Hospital on the night shift. We shared many warm moments while working and since our retirements. Loved getting rhubarb from her and visits recently on the phone.

I was a teensger at the old St. Marys’,in dietary, than a ward clerk, than a new nursing graduste. Mrs. Hyduke was an awesome mentor, as a young graduste she was always there when I called for her on night shift. A true peer & professioal nurse. To think that was 45 years ago is unbelievable! I thank her family for such a wonderful mom, wife, friend & nurse. She was one of the best!!!
