Memorial Suggestions

In memory of Homer, offer a kind deed to someone in need.

Racine – Homer Joe Judon, Sr., age 82, received his wings on Friday, December 11, 2020.

Homer was born in Ecru, Mississippi on July 8, 1938 to the late Joseph and Evelyn (nee: Bryson) Judon. Homer attended Judon Lines Elementary School, which was founded by his grandparents. He went on to graduate from Ecru High School in 1956. Homer was united in marriage with the love of his life, Betty Simmons, on October 24, 1961. They were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary next year.

Homer & Betty moved to Racine in 1964. With a profound work ethic, he was employed by Racine Steel Castings for over 35 years before retiring in 2003. Following, he worked for Walmart for nearly 10 years, before completely retiring at the young age of 80.

Homer was baptized in faith at an early age at Ecru Second Baptist Church. His entire family proudly joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in 1978 under the leadership of Rev. J.B. Bailey and   continued to worship under the leadership of Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby – where he shared his gift of voice in the Male Chorus, served as a Trustee and was active in the Retiree Club.

Among his interests, Homer enjoyed sports – was quite the softball pitcher and Green Bay Packers & Milwaukee Brewers fan; was an avid fisherman; and absolutely loved going back to Mississippi every summer to visit family; could always go for watching an old-time Western movie; and reminiscing about the good old days by telling stories about his childhood years. Homer was completely supportive of his grandchildren and all their accomplishments. Above all, although sometimes quiet & private, Homer truly loved spending time with his entire family.

Homer leaves to cherish precious memories: wife, Betty of 59 years; four children, Homer (Elna) Judon Jr. of Manilla, Philippines; James (Jackie) Judon of Kansas City, MO; Vivian Judon of Racine; and Lawonda (Rodney) Snow of Racine; sister, Addie Mae (Alonzo) Clark of Sacramento, CA; brothers, Dan Judon & Samuel “Shane” (Juanita) Judon of Ecru, MS; Elijah “Jackie” (Lucy) Judon of Tupelo, MS; and Curtis B. Judon of Michigan City, IN;  seven adored grandchildren, Michael Judon of Janesville, WI, Blake Hodges of South Beloit, IL; Jasmine Judon of Milwaukee, WI; Jenise and Jessica Judon of Racine, WI; Homer III and Hannah Judon of Manilla, Philippines; five great-grandchildren, Brenieya, Marley, Draik, Jarvis Jr. and Jayla; special nephew, William “Goober” (Belva) Simmons; special cousins, John Judon and Bennie (Charlena) Cobb; and a host of other dear nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by brothers, Tom and Marcell Judon; and sisters, Eva Grace and Flora Joette.

PUBLIC viewing will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm. PRIVATE family services will follow with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby, Sr. officiating. Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery on Monday, December 21st at 2:00 pm. In memory of Homer, offer a kind deed to someone in need.
