Judith “Judy” Vasy, received her eternal reward on Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born in Ironwood, Michigan on May 6,1937, the daughter of the late Russell and Mildred (nee: Stone) Harvey.

After graduating from high school in Ironwood, she moved to Racine to live with her Uncle Harry and Aunt Joyce, where she met her future husband who lived one house away. She married Louis A. Vasy on May 10, 1958, in the First United Methodist Church of Racine. Sadly, Louis preceded her in death on March 22, 2012. Judy was a stay-at-home mom until her three daughters were grown. She then began working for Walgreens and working the election polls.

She enjoyed shopping, gardening, baking, and decorating for every holiday. Her and Louis traveled often in their younger years, including several trips to the casino. She spent most of her afternoons watching Days of Our Lives or getting lunch with her sister-in-law, Margaret. Most importantly she loved spending time with her Grandchildren. Judy was known for her wonderful pie crusts and delicious home cooked meals. As well as her loving and caring nature, which was carried on until her last day. For all of those who knew Judy, knew she never went without her lipstick.

Surviving are her three children, Debra (Stan) Johnson, Julie Hutchinson, and Carrie (Scott Krogh) Ballew; special daughter, Jenny Beaty- (Brian) Rovinski, all of Racine; four grandchildren, Josh Johnson, of Kenosha, Courtney (Jonathan Beckett) Johnson, Jordan Hutchinson, and Kaitlyn (Travis Krencisz) Hutchinson all of Racine; 2 great grandsons, Carson Hutchinson (who lovingly named her as “Grandma Cane”), and Oliver Krencisz; brother-in-law, Arthur Vasy, in Virginia. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive her. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her two grandchildren, Megan Hutchinson and Morgan Ballew; son-in-law, David Ballew, and many sister-and-brother in-laws, nieces and nephews, friends and family members.

Her family would like to give a special thanks to Brookside Care Center and the wonderful 200 hall staff for taking such great care of Judy.

On behalf of the Barry/Sus clan go our deepest sympathies to Judy’s family and friends. Judy has been a lifelong friend since my Grandma and Grandpa Barry moved into their home two doors down the road. I, personally, never knew a time in my 55 years of life until recently when Judy wasn’t in that house. She always had goodies for me at Halloween, always waved to us when we would go by, and when she wasn’t baking or doing something else, would sit outside and we’d talk. One of my favorite memories is of Judy, her sister-in-law Adeline, and our neighbor across the street, Sue, sitting under Adeline’s big tree in the front yard just after we’d moved in and talking. I brought over a pitcher of lemonade and we had a ball giggling and chatting away. I, for one, will miss her terribly. May she rest in peace and her family find comfort in all the good memories they formed with her over the years.

    Grandma,

You were an exceptional woman who had such a strong impact on who I am today. You were the most amazing woman. This world will be such a different place without your warm, loving energy in it. I will miss you always. I love you more than words can describe. I hope you are at peace now.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear of Judy’s passing. She was such a great lady. I take comfort in knowing that she is united with loved ones that passed before her- especially her Louie. Together with Louie she created a wonderful family. My heart is with you all during this most difficult time.

    Hugs to you all,

October 22, 2015

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for making our father\’s funeral a beautiful celebration of his life. So many people commented that it was the best funeral they had ever attended! We can\’t say enough about Mark Langendorf\’s professionalism, his attention to detail, and ensuring that my father\’s funeral went smoothly from start to finish. After the funeral, he was always available for any questions and concerns my mother had. He handled all post-funeral details. Our dad would be very happy to know it went so well.Thank you so much, Mark.
