KENOSHA – John E. Koenes, 57, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 23, 2025.

He was born in Kenosha on May 8, 1968, the son of the late Charles and Mary (nee Kueny) Koenes.  John graduated from Tremper High School in 1986.

John worked for numerous paint stores and companies before starting his own company, Progressive Painting, LLC.   He truly enjoyed his work and servicing his many loyal customers over the years.

John was a muscle car enthusiast and proud owner of a 1969 SC/Rambler.  In addition to American Motors cars, he was also a fan of Chevy trucks.   He also enjoyed going to antique malls, car museums, reading Hemmings Motor News, watching the Packers and NASCAR, and frequenting the Kenosha tavern social scene.  John was a generous man to his friends and many charities.  He will be truly missed.

He is survived by his longtime-loving companion, and fiancée, Sandy Lesniak; his brothers, Bill (Lisa) Koenes, Jim (Karen) Koenes; his nephews, Ryan (Jessica) Koenes, Matt (Julie) Koenes, Zack (Laura) Koenes; six great nieces and nephews; and his dear miniature schnauzer, Roxy.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by Sandy’s mother, Mary Lesniak.

Testimonials

November 13, 2019

I just can’t get over how beautiful everything was for my mom’s funeral. She had a rough last four weeks but your amazing team totally did her justice! I was pretty confused during that hard time, but Brian, you made sure that all the “I”s were dotted and all the “T”s crossed. For that, I thank you. I also would like to thank the amazing team of makeup artists. My mom looked beautiful.
