
Bud E. Cobb Racine – On Saturday, July 12, 2008, God saw fit to call the one we love home to rest. Bud was born on April 22, 1929, in Jackson, Tennessee. He was the son of the late John B. Cobb and Ora B. De Berry. Bud was united in marriage to Deborah Simmons on September 13, 1952. He was employed by Racine Unified School District, from where he retired after 25 years. After retirement his favorite pastime was salvaging. Bud was known to be called “Daddy Bud” by his loved ones. Bud was a member of Saint Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church. Bud leaves to cherish his precious memories his wife, Deborah Cobb, and his children: Mary Selmon, Martha Selmon, Carol Cobb, and Michael Cobb all of Racine, Linda Cobb, Ernest (Utha) Cobb, Gary (Laura) Cobb all of Toledo, Ohio; brother, Arthur Joe De Berry; and sister, Ora Lee Taylor both of Jackson, Tennessee; sister Johnnie Mae Cobb of Houston, Texas; brothers Arthur and Lewis Cobb both of Newport, Rhode Island; and Ronald Cobb of Alton, Illinois; mother-in-law, Johnnie Simmons; sister-in-laws, Mary Weatherspoon, Vallie (Walter) Rodgers, Lorene (William) Story, Orine (Oliver) Story, and Elizabeth Gregory; brother-in-laws John Simmons, William (Ruth) Simmons of Racine; and special cousins, Frankie Lee Bond and Marie Gross. He also leaves twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grand children; two great-great-grand children, three of whom he raised like his own children; Jermaral Cobb, Latasha (Carey) Collins and Justin Cobb. Bud also leaves two special friends Monroe Jackson and Jimmy Blackwell of Racine. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Arther DeBerry, step-mother Viola Cobb; brother, Johnny B. Cobb; sister, Nannie Mae DeBerry; son William Selmon; grandson; Anthony Selmon; aunt Mattie Bell; father-in-law, George Simmons; brothers in-law, Robert Simmons and James Weatherspoon; and cousin, Charles Boyd. Homegoing services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Burial at Graceland Cemetery will follow. Viewing and visitation will take place in the funeral home Monday evening from 5-7 p.m., and again in the church on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
