MOUNT PLEASANT – Mrs. Carla L. Lowery, 70, passed away at Ascension All Saints on Monday, January 29, 2018.

She was born in Racine on September 10, 1947, the daughter of the late Carl and Evelyn McGilsky.  She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1965.  After high school, Carla attended beauty school as well as worked for Wisconsin Bell for many years as an operator.

On May 12, 1979, she married Charles Edward Lowery, Jr.

Carla was a compassionate, kind woman who often cared for others before herself.  She had a special soft spot in her heart for animals; especially cats and dogs.  Carla was a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and enjoyed casino trips to Las Vegas with her husband, Chuck.

In addition to her loving husband, Chuck, she is survived by her children, Charles Gene Stephan of Lake Tomahawk, WI, Sherie (Jeff) Warchol of Waukesha, Linda (Troy) Krause of Kanawha, IA, Charles Nicholas Lowery of Mount Pleasant; her grandchildren, Jamie Snodgrass of Spring, TX, Cassandra Jones of Chicago, Jessica Jones of Los Angeles, Zachery (Sabrina) Orlovsky of Rake, IA; her seven great grandchildren; her sister, Jancy Kropp of Sturtevant; her nephew, Benjamin Kropp; her niece and Goddaughter, Katie Kropp; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George Lowery and Delores Griffith both of Pennsylvania;  as well as dear nieces, nephews and special friends.

Carla was also preceded in death by her daughter, Becky Ann Burke.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. for a visitation.  The celebration of her life and funeral Mass will take place at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Ave) on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating.  There will also be a visitation in the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.  Her interment at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum will follow after the Mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Carla’s name have been suggested to the Humane Society of the United States (1255 23rd St NW Suite 450  Washington, DC 20037)

A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Ascension All Saints for the loving and professional attention extended to Carla and her family while under their care.

I know when you was on Earth you love the angels you are in heaven where you are surrounded by them everyday. As you meet your maker face to face may there be a angel standing beside you with his wings of Grace. Love you!
