Carter Evans Jr.

Carter Evans Jr., 57, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. He was born in Birmingham, AL on April 5, 1951 the son of the Carter and Lucille (nee: Armstrong) Evans Sr.. Mr. Evans served his country with the U.S. Air Force. He had been employed by Western Publishing. Mr. Evans was a member of the Word of Life Church. He enjoyed working on the computer, but his true loves were his God, his church, and his family. Surviving are his wife, the former Katie M. Scott; their children, Carter (Delicia) Evans III, Roderick (Delores) Evans, Christina (Jacob Michael) Drollinger, and Cornelius Evans, and Christopher (Michelle) Price all of Racine; 14 grandchildren, Darius, Elisha, Alexia, Cornelius Jr., Delisa, Shakora, Kamari, Kaniyah, Kalejah, Christopher, Courtney, and Cailin, Danial and Joey; his father, Carter Evans Sr. of Bessemer, AL; godmother; Therolene Walton of Birmingham, AL, brothers, Lawrence Wooden of Milwaukee, Michael (Sarah) Evans, Arthur Williams all of Bessemer, AL, Andrew J. Evans in North Carolina, Pernell Evans and Raymond Evans both of Lansing, MI; sisters Patricia (Michael) Walton, Vallaria B. Gulley, and Gloria Johnson all of Birmingham, AL, Lucille E. Jones, Debro Evans, and Vallaria Scott all of Bessemer, AL; brothers-in-law Fred Kindred of Birmingham and Dennis Marshell of Bessemer; aunts, Annie Carey of Bessemer and Louise Jackson of Birmingham; uncle Nathaniel Bush of Chicago, IL. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and his church family at Word of Life. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Evans, brother Larry Armstrong, and sisters Juliette Marshell and Mamie Kindred. His Memorial Homegoing Service will be in the funeral home on Saturday, December 20th, at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will be on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial, with full military honors, will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery.
