I worked with Colter at Salter Labs, he was such a sweet person. I will always think of him as a good family man. Colter would always show pictures of his children and talk about his family. While helping me with my computer issues he also loved to educate me on Star Wars. My deepest condolences to all his loved ones.

I met Colter in the fall of 2018 when he joined our Cub Scout Pack. We weren’t the closest one in Kenosha to his home, but we were listed as a Family Pack which meant that not only was this a place for Colter and then Kindergartener, Colton, it meant we had a place for Daisy when she was old enough.

Colter started out yesterday being Colton’s Adult Lion Partner, happily took on the roll of Tiger Den Leader (after lots of persuasion from yours truly), but when we lost our Cubmaster after the pandemic started, he became our Cubmaster and Jennifer became Colton’s Den Leader and my “right hand” in so many ways behind the scenes.

Due to the family’s decision to join and become members of their new church and the commitment that needed from them, Colter and the family had to step back from scouts. But when I asked if it was an option for them to come back when schedules cleared back up, it seemed that was a possibility that would be visited after Easter. Colter’s funny, jokes (many I admit that I didn’t get) will be totally missed at our committee meetings and when I go to visit with Jennifer and the kids.
RIP Colter, watch over Jennifer and the kids.

    Colter, you are so missed.

A prayer for Colter, shared by Jeb Fleming at our Cub Scout Pack meeting Monday night:

    Almighty Father
As we close, we want to take a minute to grieve the loss of Colter Maltby, help us to remember his involvement in Scouting. Show us how he lived the Scout Oath and Scout Law. We ask that you comfort us as we will miss his leadership and friendship.
    Amen

I am still trying to process this, even almost 2 weeks after.
I miss you, my brother, and even though I know you are in a better place it still doesn’t seem fair.
    Rest in peace.

When I most needed a friend, you were there for me. You were kind and gentle and fun, and you never judged me for my many imperfections. I enjoyed our times together and regret that those times are at an end. My heart aches for your beautiful family, and I pray that they will find the strength they need to go on. Thank you for having been my friend. I will miss you always.

Colter we remember you from your childhood in Bakersfield. You were the brightest little boy we ever met. Always had something in mind to try out. You left this life too soon, but have left a legacy of your beautiful children. May God give you His best eternity, and bless your family here on earth. We love you.

Jennifer, I’m so sorry. I know there are no words, but my heart hurts for you and the kids. Colter had such a good heart and a great sense of humor. You two were fun to be with and such a loving couple. He will be missed.

Many thanks to Bob and the staff of Draeger-Langendorf. This has been the hardest of times in my families lives and you were very attentive and helpful with all that needed to be done. The tribute that you created for my mother was beautiful and I shall not forget it. God bless all of you.
