Dyersburg, TN (Former resident of Racine, WI – Hi, My name is Derwin O’Keith King. I was born October 13, 1966, in Racine, Wisconsin to the union of Martin and Wilma (nee: Hardin) King.

I received my formal education in the Racine Unified School District. I accepted Christ at an early age in which I was baptised and became a member of Greater Mount Eagle Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Charles E. Thornhill.

In my leisure I loved to cook not only for myself, but for others also.

I departed this life on September 22, 2021, in Jackson, Tennessee. I was preceded in death by my father Martin King and a few other loved ones (too many to name).

I leave to cherish my memories: My loving mother Wilma King. My siblings Kaundlen Anderson, Byron Riley, April Puryear, Taylor-Jordan Puryear, Linda Mullens, Lisa (Gregg) Mckenzie, Constance (Robert) Cook, Sylvester Gladney, Roberta Robertson, Charles Robertson and Ronald Robertson. My former wife Markeeta Pickett King and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many, many friends.

Derwin O’Keith King, age 54, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 6:00pm in the chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd., Racine, Wisconsin. Visitation will be in the chapel 4:00pm – 6:00pm.

The Family of Barbara Bell

Michael,

First, let me start out by saying you were a God sent working with me for many years in preparations for my mom’s Homegoing Celebration December 7, 2024. Even though this was our first time meeting in person, I felt like I already knew you. Michael, you demonstrated professionalism, empathy and, your warmth was surprising for me considering your role as a Funeral Director. Your attention to every detail, patient and support has made this process much easier for my family and me. I trusted you and you helped me find closure in a moment of great sadness, and for that we’re eternally grateful. I appreciate the time and energy you put into ensuring everything ran smoothly considering I reside in a different state. Michael, my mom would have loved you and our family is forever grateful for your unwavering dedication and support during our season of grief. May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. (Numbers 6:25)
