My husband,Arnold and I first met Doris at her son Allan’s house for fun, food, and fellowship. This meeting was a prison fellowship ‘get together’ as we called it and Doris was invited by Allan to come and meet some of us. Well…I am so glad Doris came and we all got to meet ‘Al’s Mom’. She was a joy to be with and as always we laughed alot and had a wonderful time in the presence of each other and God. I think Doris brought a birthday cake to celebrate Al’s birthdy in March. I remember that day with a smile on my face. Thank you, God for giving Arnold and me that day to spend with Doris.

I will always remember Aunt Doris as a person who laughed a lot and loved to tell jokes. She was so proud of her flower garden. I will miss seeing her when I am home visiting. She and her sister Josie (my mom) were very close. I can hear them laughing together now as I write this. Happy Mother’s Day to a wonderful aunt and mother.

Aunt Doris. I’ll miss her so much. I’ll miss the visits to her house, her stories, her kindness, her concern for others, her sharing and, yes, her laughter and, the way she got others to laugh. Oh, and the offers of Mogan David wine (she always tried to get me try some).

There is no doubt she had an immense heart for all the kids in her life: children, grand children and great grand children. Gosh, she was so proud of each one of them.

My prayers and thoughts are with you Allen, Albert and Valerie. You had one heck of a mom.

    With my very deepest sympathy,

    Candice Hess Verwey

May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always, and strength in the companionship of those who share your loss…. I have learned never to underestimate the healing power we all have. It is always there to be used for the highest good. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. (Matthew 5:4) May it be a source of inner strength to know that there’s a loving God watching over you, and that, throughout this time of need, He’ll stay close by your side.
All those sleeping in their graves will wake up and sing for joy. As the sparkling dew refreshes the earth, so the Lord will revive those who have long been dead.”-Isa. 26:19.

I’ll always remember Aunt Doris as being the funny one. She always injected humor or a silly joke into any situation. I enjoyed seeing her on many visits to Racine. She was a great comfort to my Grandma (Josephine) and would frequently stop by to visit and check in on her. They spent a lot of time together when they were younger. Aunt Doris had a very kind heart and I bet she was a fun bus driver! You’ll be missed Aunt Doris.

    Love, Shelly

Oh Mom, how I miss you. When I have something happen during the day my first thought is to call you and then I remember quickly your not here to talk with. I knew the day would come when I wouldn’t be able to call our family phone number and have you pick up. When Dad died, I missed him too, but I remember telling you that I was glad you were still here. That was 16 yrs ago. The Lord gave us a wonderful 16 yrs to spend with you. You taught me to give of myself. Mom, you sacrificed for us. Without saying anything, you taught me to give by your life. Thank you Lord God for giving me the best mother for me. I will always love you and think about you. Valerie Ann

Testimonials

May 24, 2018

I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mike and the Draeger-Langendorf staff for such great service provided to us, as we made arrangements to lay our brother to rest. You all went above and beyond to make sure we understood every detail there was to know, from the greatest to the smallest. When we walked out of your office, we walked out with peace, knowing that our brother was in good hands. Thank you Mike for adding that special touch to my brother’s service, that’s the kind of stuff that separates you all from the rest. Once again Thank you so much.

Valerie McLain
