George Williams Jr., 73, passed on November 9, 2016 at Aurora St. Lukes Hospital, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. George gave his life to Christ at an early age at the Fellowship Baptist Church, in Enterprise, Mississippi. In 1964, George graduated with an Associate Degree in Arts from C.J. Harris Junior College in Meridian, Mississippi. The following year, George was drafted into the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. George served under the United States Army 1st Infantry Division, also known as the “Big Red One.” During his time of service, he received several medals of Honor: U.S. Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal Work Leader Campaign Star.

In 1972, George joined the Racine Police Department where he worked and served our beloved community for 24 years. George was a positive symbol throughout the community he served and many of his long-time friends would often refer to him as “Junebug.” A name he came to embrace with a smile and personality. George was a “man among men” and strived to live his life to the fullest.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful and loving wife of 48 years, Mary L. Williams; His children, Angela (Randy) Walker of Houston, TX and George Kelley (LaRita) Williams of Racine, WI; Eight grandchildren: Ronnie Crenshaw III, George Kelley Williams Jr., Lauren Walker, Morgan Williams, Robert Williams, Harper Williams, Justin Brewer, and Jordan Brewer; Two brothers: James (Betty) Williams of Meridian, MS and Willie B. (Margaret) Williams of Little Rock Arkansas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents; Barbara Williams of Racine, WI and George Robert Williams of Enterprise, MS; a brother, Herbert Williams of Chicago, IL and a sister, Pearlie Mae (Gilbert) Griffin of Racine, WI.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 18, 2016 at St. Paul MBC, 1123 Center St., with a Visitation from 10:00am until the time of service and on Thursday, November 17th in chapel of the funeral home from 4:00pm – 7:00pm, family hour will begin at 6:00pm.
