Gloria Chavez-Olivera, age 59, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side at Aurora Medical Center early Sunday morning, April 5, 2026.
Gloria was born on February 5, 1967 to Irma Castillo and Antonio Chavez, Jr. in Raymondville, Texas. A 1985 graduate of Raymondville High School, she lived there until she moved to Wisconsin in 1988, where she would later meet her first husband, Robert Rangel, with whom she had their two daughters, Alma and Clarissa. Gloria worked as a school bus driver during the 1990s with School Services and Leasing, then returned in 2015 as a bus monitor until 2024. She worked as a driver for First Care Transportation before her passing. She loved her clients and enjoyed being there for them. She loved that her day was never the same. She took a lot of pride in her job. Most of all, Gloria loved spending time with her family and supporting them in their activities, especially her grandkids, whether it was traveling to support her granddaughter, Josalin with her volleyball team, conversations in the car with her grandson, Ehzno or one on one time with her other grandson, Junior, her grandkids were her heart. When she wasnβt with her grandchildren, she loved spending time with her sister, Belle going to dances and having lunch at El Rey. She also loved taking care of her plants and doing needlepoint. Gloria was also a big Dallas Cowboy fan, and she loved her Tejano music and teaching the kids to dance. Her favorite thing was her selfcare time at Flawless Nails in Kenosha with her longtime friend and nail tech, Lucy Trevino.
She will be missed by her daughters, Alma Rangel and Clarissa Rangel (Joseph Mowen); grandchildren, Josalin Rangel, Francisco Barroso, Jr, and Ehzno Rodriguez; mother, Irma Castillo; sister, Belle Quintero; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends; extended children, Anthony Ramirez and Elyissa Soler. Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Antonio Chavez Jr.; stepfather, Juan Salines; grandmother, Maria Castillo; brother, Javier Salines; ex husband, Robert Rangel; and uncle, Jeronimo Castillo.
A heartfelt note of thanks to the wonderful staff of the Garden Unit and the ICU for their compassionate care and support in Gloriaβs time of need.
