Melvin Bobby Ray Beatie, age 77 who resided in Kenosha, Wisconsin passed away at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee on Saturday, April 10, 2021. He was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi on August 27, 1943 to the late Mose Beatie and Josephine Hill- Beatie. He was raised in a Christian home and taught about the importance of having a sincere relationship with God.  At the age of 13, he confessed hope in Christ and joined East County Line CME Church in Houlka, Mississippi.   He attended Houlka Consolidated Elementary and Middle School in Houlka, MS and Houston High School in Houston, MS.

On August 2, 2014 Melvin was united in marriage with Debra Ann (nee: Bennett). Melvin was raised to work in the family business as a farmer. He was outstanding in directing the work on the farm to ensure sufficient bales of cotton were picked to go to the gin each week as well as sweet potatoes and many other organically grown produce.  In his later years, he purchased a truck to use in running his own scrap metal business.  Melvin engaged in recycling before the concept was made so popular.

Having been raised in a Christian home, he maintained a commitment to attend Church. Christian by faith…Melvin attended Blessing Center Outreach Missionary Church in Kenosha and Word of Life Christian Center in Racine. His faith was important to him which was instilled in him at an early age.  He was quite a well-rounded very warm and likeable person who enjoyed himself. Among his interests and hobbies were singing in a church quartet, working on cars, riding horses on the family farm, watching a good western show, especially Gunsmoke; shinning his Cadillac cars; and, above all, Melvin loved spending time with his entire family and gave all of his sisters playful- giggly nicknames that were terms of endearment and his only brother- Jesse was his best friend.  He loved being a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, god-father and was a gentleman who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Testimonials

October 9, 2020

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family

Theresa Lynn Carls
