Racine – Melvin C. Lukomski, age 77, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
Melvin was born in Milwaukee on December 14, 1937. He lived in England for a short period of time when his dad worked for International Harvester. The family moved back to Milwaukee where Mel attended Pulaski High School. He had fond memories of living on the family farm named “Charming Acres Farm” with his parents and two sisters.
On September 22, 1969 Mel was united in marriage with the love of his life, Charlene Ann (nee: Geyer) Lukomski. Mel’s heart was broken and life was never the same when she passed away on December 29, 2008.
Mel was employed as a millwright at AMC / Chrysler for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. With a tireless work ethic and while working full-time at AMC / Chrysler, Mel also co-owned & co-operated Do Rite Concrete, (along with his brother-in-law, Richard Geyer) for many years.
Melvin was a faithful member of St. Lucy Catholic Church where he proudly served as an usher. He was a quiet man of very few words but had a heart of gold. Mel and Char had a great appreciation for all God’s creatures and were great supporters of many animal welfare causes.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Kari and Scott Stapleman; grandchildren, Michael and David Stapleman; sisters, Delphine Lukomski and Charlene “Cookie” (Rick) Heiden; brother-in-law, Richard Geyer; neighbors and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Casey and Marion Lukomski; and by Charlene’s parents, Frank and Verna Geyer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 6:00 pm in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. Burial will be at 10:00 am on Thursday in West Lawn Memorial Park, 9000 Washington Avenue (please meet at cemetery entrance by 10 am).

A special note of thanks to Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints 3C for the compassionate care and support given in Mel’s time of need. May God bless all of you!
