Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38103.

Robert J. LaSalle, 82, passed away at his residence on Friday, December 9, 2022. He was born in Chicago, IL, on December 8, 1940, the son of the late James and Helen (nee: Wodianski) LaSalle.

Robert graduated from the University of Illinois, majoring in education and minoring in aviation. On August 28, 1965, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dover, he was united in marriage to Jean M. Izydorek. Robert was a corporate pilot for the Altria Corporation, formerly Philip Morris Co., for over 30 years, where he flew executives for Miller Brewing Company and the Kraft Corporation. He retired in 2002. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, where he helped with the Meals Program, and volunteered for the American Red Cross and the USO. Next to his family, his passion for flying was his greatest love. He helped build and flew an ultralight aircraft, which he owned for more than 15 years.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Jean; their daughter, Robin LaSalle, of Allentown, PA; two granddaughters, Lindsay Phillips and Taylor Phillips. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his younger brother, Russell. The family would also like to acknowledge all of the extended family, including brother-in-law sister-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers that touched Robert’s life through the years.
