Theresa Leona Kanyuh

Sep 30, 1932 – Dec 12, 2015

RACINE – Mrs. Theresa L. Kanyuh, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

She was born in Herman, MN on September 30, 1932, the daughter of the late John and Dena (nee: Harms) Siebrands.

Theresa worked for many years as a waitress for numerous supper clubs in Racine.  On March 31, 1990 she married Myron Kanyuh.  He preceded her in death on April 6, 2010.

She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, the Racine Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club of Horseshoe Bend, AR.  Theresa enjoyed volunteering at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints, calling Bingo at the Parkview Apartments and watching NASCAR, the Brewers and the Packers.  However, she was happiest when she was in the presence of her family.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Carol) Melander from Ocala, FL., Marsha Ditter and Sue (Jerry) Klinkhammer both of Racine; her grandchildren, Mike (Jenny) Melander, Matt (Amber) Melander, Rick (Jen) Ditter, Karl (Kim) Ditter, Brian (Honor) Schuld, Steve (Tracy) Schuld, Carrie Bertram; her great grandchildren, Logan, Hudson, Eli, Alexander, Aiden, Cameron and Eva; her sisters-in-law, Mary (Dick Tremmel) Kanyuh, Rita (Wayne) Henjy both of Racine; her great grand dogs, Doja and Sawyer; as well as many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Myron, Theresa was preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Melander; her brother, Johnny (Lois) Siebrands and sister, Anna Mae (Dick) Phillips.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Rita Parish (4339 Douglas Ave) on Friday, December 18, 2015 for a visitation and time to meet with her family from 9-10 a.m.  A memorial Mass celebrating her life will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Richard A. Young, O.S.A officiating.    A private interment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Theresa’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and Wheaton Franciscan Hospice; especially nurses Mary and Kathy for the loving and professional attention she received while under their care.
