Victoria Elaine Kerkowski, known to all as “Vicky,” 74, received the promise of eternal life on Wednesday, December 1, 2021. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 20, 1946, daughter of the late Jacob and Hazel (née: Tabbert) Detzel.

Vicky was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wayne J. Kerkowski, Sr., on June 11, 1966, at Our Lady of Victory in Chicago, IL. After 55 years of marriage “Hey Vick” became her pet name and later even on her license plate.

Vicky was an avid bowler and loved bowling on leagues with her family. She loved trying her luck on the slot machine at the casino to hit the triple 777’s on the slots or yell bingo. She loved to cheer on her Brewers and Packers every season. She enjoyed the music of Earth Wind and Fire and attending Rick Springfield concerts with her daughter. Her family was everything to her and she loved doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vicky leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Wayne Kerkowski, Sr.; daughter, Melissa (Randy) Jansen; son, Wayne Kerkowski, Jr.; granddaughter, Amanda (Derek) Quella; great-grandchildren, Hannah Grace Quella, Mackenzie Lynn Quella, Olivia Jean Quella; faithful canine companion, Charlie; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Vicky is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Hazel Detzel; in-laws, Edward and Anna Kerkowski; brother, Bryon Detzel; and brother-in-law, Dennis Kerkowski.

A celebration of Vicky’s life will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021, 12:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Old Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the staff at Aurora Medical Center, including Kelsey, Jamie, Jessica, Rochelle, Jennifer, Dr. Amy Kelly, Dr. Dajun Wang, Dr. Peter Han, and Dr. Vidhyalakshmy Vivek. A special “Thank You” to Dr. Malik Bandealy and staff for their compassionate care given to Vicky and our family during this difficult time.
