Memorial Suggestions

Memorials in Don’s name have been suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Donald Joseph Hyatt, Sr., age 91, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, May 29, 2026, at Killarney Kourt in Sturtevant, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Racine on December 22, 1934, Don was the son of the late Martin and Helen (née Dembowski) Hyatt. After attending Horlick High School, he completed basic training with the United States Army and went on to serve proudly in the U.S. Army Reserves. On October 30, 1954, at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, he married the love of his life, Marlys Jean (née Pallesen). They shared a beautiful life together until her passing on January 11, 2003.

Don was known for his unwavering work ethic. He dedicated more than 42 years to SC Johnson and had enjoyed 31 years of retirement. As a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he devoted many decades as an usher, offering his steady presence and dependable service to the parish community.

He embraced life with energy and enthusiasm. Don bowled in several leagues per week well into his later years, proudly rolling his first 300 game at age 76. He loved golfing—always walking the course, even into his 80s—and found peace with a fishing pole in hand. Above all, Don cherished time spent with his family. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by those he loved.

He is survived by his daughter, Darlene (Chad Sampson) Fischer; his son, Donald J. (Kristen) Hyatt, Jr.; his grandchildren, Lauren Fischer, Bailey (Christian) Huppert, and Erin Hyatt; his sister, Rosemary (Dennis) Kruck; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Killarney Kourt and St Croix Hospice for the exceptional care and support they provided to our Dad and Grandpa. May God continue to bless each of you.
