Elizabeth Naumann

Jan 19, 1929 – Feb 23, 2013

MOUNT PLEASANT – Elizabeth Naumann, 84, passed away at WFH – All Saints on Saturday, February 23, 2013.

Although of German heritage, she was born in Bastai, Croatia on January 19, 1929, the daughter of the late George and Eva (nee: Heberling) Knoch.  She moved to Slatina, Yugoslavia in1944.  From there she moved to Austria for 11 years before finally settling in Racine in 1955.  On June 30, 1956 she was united in marriage to her husband of 56 years, Horst Naumann.

Elizabeth was a faithful, longtime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens which produced so many delicious sauces, canned jams and pickled vegetables. Elizabeth was also known as a very talented baker of wonderful tortes and desserts.  As much as she loved gardening and baking, she was happiest caring for and being in the presence of her family.

In addition to her loving husband Horst, she is survived by her daughters, Susan (Ron Lohnhardt) Cryer, Christina (Bill) Koebert; her grandchildren, whom affectionately called her Oma, Alyssa Cryer, Samantha Cryer, Rachel Koebert and William Koebert; her sister and brother, Eva Flohr, Heinrich (Katharina) Knoch both of Racine; sister-in-law, Sigrid Badaoui of Germany; as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, and other relatives.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Knoch.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. for a service celebrating Elizabeth’s life with Rev. John Roekle officiating.  There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until the time of the service.  A private interment service for family will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials have been suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The Naumann family wishes to thank the entire staff at WFH- All Saints; as well as the staff at Becker-Shoop, for the loving attention and medical care extended to Elizabeth.

Testimonials

Thank you from Raymond Szymanski Family

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
