
Racine – Jeffrey Willis Prewitt, Sr., 57, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Wednesday, January 1, 2014. A lifetime resident, Jeff was born in Racine on September 14, 1956, son of Milton and Roberta J. Prewitt.
Jeff attended Washington Park High School. As an adult, he obtained his GED from Gateway Technical College. Jeff had many jobs and worked very hard to learn many trades. He was a fun-loving, generous, kind, and witty person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed being around family and friends while watching sports and movies on television.
Jeff leaves to cherish his memory, son, Anthony Mullins; parents, Milton and Roberta Prewitt; sisters, Melinda Billups, Kimberly Prewitt; brothers, Steve (Michelle) Prewitt, Victor (Celestina) Prewitt; special niece, Lemina Billups; other nieces including Jonyiesa (Fred) White, Jalyn Prewitt; nephews, Vadell, Dionte (Stephanie), Justin, Julius (Katrina), Kyle, Jonas; special cousins, Esther (James) Harper, John Dillard, Roma L. Dillard; special friends, Robert Barkley, Bruce Perry, O.C. Venzant, James (Quik) Greer, Lorna (Bay Bay) Travis, Charlene Wilson; and a host of other relatives and friends that will truly miss him.
Jeff was preceded in death by son Jeffrey (J-Bird), Jr.; brother, Vaughn E. Prewitt, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends, including the late Patricia Mullins-Walker.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will take place on Friday, January 10, 2014, 11:00am, at Greater Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, 929 State Street, with Rev. Keith T. Evans officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a “Thank You” to Dr. David Ross and Carlos, Jeff’s nurse, for the care that they gave to Jeff during his time of need.
