Racine, WI. – Laura Mae (nee: Hunter) Johnson was born August 8, 1944, to Mattie Will (nee: Hunter) Price and Willis McLain in Enterprise, Mississippi. Laura relocated to Racine, Wisconsin as a teenager where she lived out the rest of her years. She was employed at Shepard Plating Company, Holiday Inn, Lincoln Lutheran, and she also did Private In-Home care. Wherever help was needed you could count on Laura to be there, she had the gift of getting the job done. She enjoyed watching soap operas, reading the newspaper, working on crossword puzzles, and playing casino games, but more than anything she loved being around her family.

Laura Mae Johnson leaves to cherish her memory, her father Willis McLain; her children Gwen Johnson, Nicole Hollis, Nicholas Hollis and Corey Finch; her sisters Peggy, Patricia, Beth, Elaine and Carol; her brothers Victor, Johnny, Charles, Willis and Levon; 12 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mattie Price, daughter Lisa Greene, grandsons Richard Greene Jr. and Rashod Morris; sisters Johnny Ruth and Nancy Price; brothers Joseph Hunter, James Price, John T. Price Jr. and Lonnie McLain; her special friend Tony Alexander and her dear cousin Janice Lott-Childers.

The Celebration of Her Life will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 in the chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd, Racine, WI. 11:00am. Visitation will be in the chapel 10:00am – 11:00am. Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery.

Masks must be worn at all times while in the funeral home.

Testimonials

Last warm-hearted care of our mother

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
