Roseanna Hall

Sep 20, 1934 – Aug 1, 2020

Service Details

A family graveside memorial service is being planned at the Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery in Pembroke, NC.

Roseanna Hall, 85, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2020 at Kenosha Place Senior Living, Kenosha, WI, formerly of Seminole, FL.  Known to most as Rose, she was born Roseanna Oxendine on September 20, 1934 in Philadelphus, NC to Martin Luther Oxendine and Magnolia Locklear Oxendine.  Rose was a Cherokee Indian who grew up in Robeson County NC and attended Pembroke High School.

After High School, Rose started her family and lived in many places in the eastern United States, as well as Milwaukee WI where her children fondly remember their High School years.  Before experiencing declining health, Rose spent over 40 years in Florida’s St. Petersburg area.  It is there she will be remembered by many for her extraordinary skills as a seamstress.  Accustomed to hard works, she operated her own business, Roseanna’s Alterations.  Many will also recall her friendliness, her many stories, and her love of dancing and music.

Rose is survived by her four loving children: Sammy K. Oxendine (wife, Katie) of Caledonia, WI, Rowena C. Reed (husband, Douglas) of Port Charlotte, FL, Jaqueline J. Mitchell (husband, Donald) of Bolton, NC, and Cynthia Ann Afentakis of Seminole, FL. And, by her eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Testimonials

Thank you so very much for the exemplary care that you provided for both our mom and dad. Your family is extremely kind and exudes much empathy towards others. You and your staff display much professionalism with great talent and attention to detail. Mom and dad were always very particular in their appearance. Mom would say, You are leaving a lasting impression of yourself with someone to remember you by. Your parents taught you boys well; be very proud of that! Love on them, as death is so very permanent.

Holly and I are officially orphans now. It is people like your family and David Huck being there for us, that bring comfort when you are going through one of the most difficult challenges life throws at you.

I thank God every day for our Ostergaard family and will always cherish the memories.

Love you,

Jody Burlingame Wagner
