Ruthie “Dot” Hawkins, age 78, was born in Rosedale, MS on April 5, 1947 to Willie and Lettie Jackson. At the age of 10, the family moved to Kenosha, WI where Ruthie received her formal education within the Kenosha Unified School District. Ruthie was a very hard worker. She worked for the United States Postal Service and American Motors/Chrysler Corp. from where she medically retired. Ruthie was an avid card player, slot machine enthusiast and trash talker. She loved to travel with her son, Kevin right by her side, especially to visit family. She loved her family and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them.

Ruthie is survived by her three sons, Daimon Jackson, Sr. from Milwaukee, Kevin Jackson from Racine and Timothy Hawkins from Milwaukee; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; longtime companion Willie Space; Bonus sister, Eloise Jenkins; Bonus daughter, Taneka Golden; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ruthie loved all of her grandchildren equally, although the granddaughters held her heart due to her not having a daughter of her own. Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Lettie Jackson; brothers, Walter Glass, Sr. and Henry Jackson, a sister and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was an amazing woman—so kind and genuine. She would always say, “Ruben, how are you? You working hard? What you been up to? You got all the girlfriends,” and it would make me smile every time. When I’d come over with Tim, her cooking was incredible. She had such a caring soul, the sweetest spirit… but she didn’t play any games either.

I’m going to miss her so much. There will never be another like her. My deepest condolences go out to her and her family. You will truly be missed—she was the best.

Testimonials

Jessie Tuttle

Dear Bob,
I just wanted to thank you again for all your help and everything you did for my grandfather’s funeral. Looking back on it, I think Gramps would have been so proud of how everything turned out and it would not have been possible without your help. Your staff is amazing and has allowed us the grieve without worrying about the little details of everything that goes into making the arrangements and planning the services. You helped us honor one of the most amazing men in my life, and it meant so much to me personally and to my family. Thank you for everything.
Take care,
Jessie Tuttle
