Carol Ann Huff

Nov 24, 1927 – Jul 25, 2015

RACINE – Mrs. Carol Ann Huff, 87, passed away at Lakeshore Manor on Saturday, July 25, 2015.

A lifetime member of Racine, she was born on November 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Paul and Constance (nee: Yunkes) Paulson.  Carol graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in 1949. On September 15, 1951 she married John “Jack” Huff at Holy Name Catholic Church.  He preceded her in death on February 11, 2000.

Carol devoted her life to nursing.  She worked with Dr. Randolph Kruehl for almost 30 years and later retired with Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints.  Carol was a member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association since 1951, and was a founding member and board member of the Nurses Foundation of Racine. She was passionate about giving back to her profession, and was instrumental in developing a scholarship program for student nurses.  In 2010, Carol was awarded the Signe Cooper “Image of Nursing” Award.

Carol was also a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and the United Commercial Travelers.

She is survived by her brother-in-law Gerald E. Olley of Madison; her nieces, Barbara (Glenn) Mason of St. Paul, Ann Olley of Madison and Susan (Scott) White of Minneapolis; her great nieces and nephews, Christie (Michael) Bauer, Michael Mason, Matthew Mason (godson), Daniel O’Brien, Madison White and Jacob White; her great-great niece and nephew, Laura and Ryan Bauer; as well as many dear friends and colleagues.  Carol was also preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Olley and nephew and godson, Paul Olley.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Ave) on Thursday, July 30, 2015 for a visitation from 10-11 a.m.  The celebration of her life and funeral Mass will follow at 11:00.am. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Her interment will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Nurses Foundation of Racine Scholarship Fund.

Carol’s family sincerely thanks Drs. Ryan Engel and Paul Durbin as well as the nurses and entire staff at Lakeshore Manor for the loving and professional attention she received while under their care.

Testimonials

Vicky Coerper

Brian and the rest of the staff, we just wanted to take a moment to thank you for handling every detail of our mom’s (Vera Miller’s) funeral so expeditiously and flawlessly. Being here in North Carolina, I was worried about getting mom back to WI which was her wish. All I had to do was make one phone call to your office and you seamlessly got her from Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC back to WI.

All of the arrangements were so impeccable; pictures, book for signing, flowers, thank you and acknowledgement cards, arrangements with Graceland Cemetery, and even playing our slideshow with music and photos, and getting it to loop properly.

You took so much worry off of me and my siblings by professionally stepping in and handling everything for us. I was going a little crazy thinking I had to do it all, but you helped so much that we just needed to share these thoughts and feelings with others. Thank you for everything,

– Vicky Coerper, Janice Miller, Kenny Miller and Monica Bailey
