
Racine – Charles R. Thompson, 84, departed this life on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center.
Charles was born May 30, 1930 in West Point, Mississippi to the union of Mr. Jimmie Thompson and Mrs. Lee Anna Thompson. He was one of nine children. Charles is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Beulah; two sons, four brothers and three sisters.
Charles accepted Christ in the early 1980s. He was a member of Greater Mount Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a member of the male choir. Charles worked for Case Tractor for a number of years until he retired. He, then, did jobs like moving snow at different businesses. He also enjoyed working on his car or truck when they needed maintenance repair, until he wasn’t able to get down to work on them any longer.
He leaves to cherish his memories: one daughter, Ruthie (Marion) Windham of Chicago; one son, Jimmie Thompson of Chicago; mother-in-law, Rosie King of Racine; daughter-in-law, Mary Campbell of Atlanta; one brother, Wilbert (Rosie Lee) Thompson of Indianapolis; brother-in-law, John Patterson of Racine; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Greater Mount Eagle Missionary Baptist Church (929 State Street) on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 11:00 am with Rev. Keith T. Evans officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Viewing will be in the church on Monday from 10-11 am.
