Joseph LaMantia

Apr 16, 1916 – May 1, 2006

Joseph LaMantia, 90, passed away at Washington Manor nursing Home on May 1, 2006. Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 16, 1916. He was the son of the late Nicholas and Nancy (nee; Lococo) LaMantia. He came to Kenosha as a small child and was educated in the schools of Kenosha. On October 12, 1940 he was united in marriage to Frances Bauer. From April 1945 to July 1946 he served in the army of occupation in Germany. He was employed at Simmons Company and later at JI Case Company in the transmission laboratory, retiring in 1977. He was an active member of First Baptist Church servicing on the Board of Trustees, Ushers, and Building Committee. He enjoyed wood-working, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid “Cubs and Packers” fan. Surviving him are his wife of 65 years, Frances; their children, Joseph Mark (Terri) LaMantia of Sydney, Ohio and Joan Mallmann of Stillwater, Minnesota; grandchildren, Douglas LaMantia of Milwaukee, Lauren Mallmann of Roseville, Minnesota, and Alicia Mallmann of St. Cloud, Minnesota; and great-grandson Nolan; He is also survived by two sisters, Mae Fragale of Racine and Nancy Lococo of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent, James, and Michael; six sisters, Ida, Christine, Anna, Jennie, Josephine, and Mary. In accordance with his wishes a Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 13, 2006 at the First Baptist Church to recognize his love of family and celebrate his life. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Memorials to the First Baptist Church or the charity of your choice have been kindly suggested.
