Carol Rose Otwaska

Jul 9, 1944 – May 3, 2014

Racine – Carol Rose Otwaska, age 69, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous six-year battle with illnesses stemming from a pancreatic tumor.

Carol was born in Hixton, WI on July 9, 1944 to the late Edgar and Agnes (nee: Campbell) Sukopp. On February 5, 1982 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Michael Joseph Otwaska, who preceded her in death on July 13, 2005.

Carol was employed by Ametek for many years until her health began to fail. She was a proud member of Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. Among her interests, she enjoyed going out to eat, family cook-outs, and trying her luck on the slots at the casino. Above all, with her loving and caring spirit, Carol’s absolute favorite was to be in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are her children, William Eisel, Dawn (Steve) Hofer, Tina Schutten and Tami Schutten; grandchildren, Casey, Joey, Amy, Jennifer and Sarah; great-grandchildren, September, Tyler, Cameron, Allison, Amyhia, Armani and Lily; brother, Robert (Ruth) Sukopp; sisters-in-law, Paula (Johnny) Gallagher, Mary (Ray) Bullis and Susan (Jim) Phipps; brothers-in-law, Thomas (Linda) Otwaska, Terry (Jean Mandernack) Otwaska and John (Kathy) Otwaska, Sr.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – including her canine companion, Chloe, of whom Carol loved so much.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Sukopp; brother-in-law, Edward (Noreen) Otwaska, Jr.; nephews, Jimmy Phipps, Jr. and Kai Otwaska; niece, Lori Sukopp; and by Mike’s parents, Edward and Virginia (nee: Jacobsen) Otwaska, Sr.

Funeral services will be held in Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 322 Ohio Street, on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Roger Black officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9-11 am. Private burial will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park.

A heartfelt note of thanks to Wheaton Franciscan Medical Center – 3B & 3D; WFH-Hospice; Drs. LeSage and Ryder; and to all of our relatives and friends – especially Mary and Susie- for being there for Mom in her time of need. May God bless all of you!
