Harvey George Urban

Apr 9, 1926 – Aug 29, 2006

Racine- Harvey George Urban, 80, passed away peacefully at the Wheaton Franciscan – St. Mary’s Medical Center on Tuesday, August 29, 2006. A lifetime resident, Harvey was born in Racine on April 9, 1926 to the late Walter J. and Frances (nee: Lubinski) Urban. After attending Racine Vocational School, he proudly served our Country with the United States Army Air Corps during WWII from July 18, 1944 to April 30, 1946. On October 25, 1947 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Harvey was united in marriage to the love of his life, Geraldine Krencisz. Years ago, he worked for Moeller Mfg. and Modine Mfg. However, he retired from Webster Electric in May of 1990 after 29 years of employment as a machinist. Harvey was a devoted member of St. Lucy Catholic Church since 1974. He was also a member of the Eagles’ Nest on Hwy 20. Among his interests, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing Yahtzee, watching all kinds of sports, and reading the newspaper from cover to cover. Above all, Harvey was a loving family man who cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family. May he rest in peace. Surviving are his loving wife, Gerry; their children, Michael (Tanya) Urban, James (Janet) Urban, Mary (Daniel) Clemente and Jeri Lynn Urban, all of Racine; grandchildren, Carrie (Donald) Selusnik of Delavan; David Gramza of Oak Creek; Mark Urban and Justin Urban, both of Racine; sister, Marilyn Nevoraski of Kenosha; sister-in-law, Dee Urban of Racine; brother-in-law, Ed Gryczkowski of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his infant brother, John; brothers, Walter “Bud” (Lillian) Urban and Dennis Urban; sister, Elaine Gryczkowski; and by brother-in-law, Robert Krencisz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 1, 2006 at 6:00 pm in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones and Rev. Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating. A reception will follow. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 4-6 pm. Private entombment, with military honors, will be held on Saturday at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. In memory of Harvey, memorials to St. Lucy Church or St. Jude’s Hospital have been suggested. A special note of thanks to the entire staffs at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Lincoln Village Convalescent Center; and to Dr. James Mataczynski for compassionately taking over Harvey’s care. You have all been a wonderful support for Harvey and for our family. God bless all of you!
