Patricia Ann Steber

Apr 27, 1926 – Feb 1, 2015

~~Patricia Ann “Pat” (nee: Zekor) Steber, 88, passed away on Sunday, February 1st, 2015, at St Joseph’s Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Pat was born in Kenosha in 1926 to the late Alven and Benedicta (nee: Nyland) Zekor.  She married Paul Truelsen in 1943, and together they had a son, Stanley Paul.  Life took Pat and Paul down separate paths, and they eventually parted ways.  In 1964, Pat married the love of her life, Frank Steber.  They had 28 wonderful years together before the Lord took Frank home on February 8th, 1992.
Pat loved animals of every kind and gave a loving home to countless dogs and cats that she rescued.  Her favorite pastime was going to rummage sales and “saving” money.  Pat also enjoyed cooking.  She won a contest for her poppy seed bread, and the family always looked forward to having it at gatherings.  Christmas was a special holiday to Pat.  She went all out when decorating the house inside and out for Christmas and even made the front page of the newspaper one year for her decorations.  It brought her great joy to have family gather at her home during the holidays.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Steber, her brother Alven Zekor, and her two sisters Bertha Lee Simons and Mary Margaret Carland.
She is survived by her son Stanley Paul Truelsen of Pensacola, Florida, her grandchildren Erin Marie Truelsen of Clovis, New Mexico, and Andrew Paul Truelsen of Kenosha, her daughter-in-love Dawn Mary Truelsen of Kenosha, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at St Joseph’s for their loving care during her time there.  In keeping with Pat’s wishes, the family held a private service at St. James Cemetery.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Pat Steber. She was a cousin to my late husband, Lynn Nyland. I met her years ago and when Lynn was in a nursing home she would come to visit with him. I found her to be a very loving, kind and generous lady. May God’s Love and Peace be with you at this difficult time.
